Careers at Liformatics

We do not publish a list of openings. We are always willing to hear from engineers and researchers whose skills match the work described here.

Skills

The kinds of skills we work with

Few people cover all of these, and nobody is expected to. Depth in one area and curiosity about a second is a good profile for our work.

Machine learning and data

Python, PyTorch, classical statistics, experiment design, data versioning, model deployment and monitoring. Care about evaluation protocol counts for more than familiarity with the newest architecture.

Security engineering

Application and network testing, threat modelling, secure development pipelines, cloud hardening, embedded and industrial protocols, and clear report writing.

Robotics and embedded systems

C++ and Python, ROS 2, state estimation, planning and control, simulation, Linux on embedded computers, and fieldbus interfaces.

Quantum software and cryptography

Linear algebra, quantum circuits, Qiskit or PennyLane, numerical optimisation, and applied cryptography including the post-quantum standards.

Optical wireless and electronics

Analogue front-end design, LED and photodiode circuits, FPGA or software-defined baseband, digital communications theory and network engineering.

Technical writing and delivery

The ability to explain a result to a non-specialist, write a specification that can be tested, and keep a project's documents current.

How we work

What to expect from the work itself

Projects are small enough that each engineer sees the whole system. You would write code, run experiments, review a colleague's design and explain results to a client, often in the same week. Every project keeps a written record of decisions, and code is reviewed before it is merged.

We value people who state uncertainty clearly, who check a surprising result before announcing it, and who prefer a simple method that works to a sophisticated one that impresses.
